Begin the begin…

Realizing the future need to carry HR through the performance gap between fading Boomers and vigorous Millenials, The Lockard7 combines book smarts, personal experiences, current culture, and what has been compiled through numerous conversations with fellow HR professionals, peppering the results with a dash of personal humor.

Each of the posts, despite sometimes being presented in a comedic way, have a serious messages at their core.  They are meant to be comments from a personal perspectives on current HR trends, and serve as a satirical survival guidebook for aspiring frontline HR professionals on how they can best attempt to master the vastly wonderful-and-wild world of HR (especially within the District of Columbia).

The guideposts that The Lockard 7 reveal suggest that for an HR professional to be successful in both the current, and future contexts of business, their skills set should consist of a proficiency in all of the following categories: 1.) Cross-Generational Inspiration, 2.) Business Acumen, 3.) Workforce Strategy, 4.)  Internal Consulting, 5.)  Critical Thinking, 6.)  Negotiation, and 7.) Technology (including Social Media).

All of the posts in this blog will attempt to define each one of these categories, using specific examples of employee-related events and HR processes that are engaged upon in the daily activities of an HR professional.

Also on this blog you will find connections to a local Washington DC Metro Area HR community/group called LEADHr DC“, as well as a community outreach program calleld JOBCAMP DC“.

The intent is for one aspect of L7 to have an influence on another. Feel free to make suggestions, add your own criteria to the list, or share your stories and anecdotes. Who knows, maybe your comments will affect, further shape and/or change the L7.  Feel free to help shape the list, and effectively define your personal niche in this community.

  1. I dig this in so many ways !! I’m supposed to be a cusp Boomer and solid Gen Xer. I just think that I am who I am and don’t really care which generations I cover. Love the approach and hope the L7 launches with glory !! You know that if I was in the DC area, I’d be there !!

  2. As a 30something HR pro, I too have that in between dilemma and I look forward to reading more. If you are heading HRevolution, have a great time!
